I decided to submit this, since it's on the front page of Viral (as of Jan 9, 2018)

I still don't know how this viral thing works. A lot of memes on the viral pages that have no upvotes or very few upvotes. I know some of our memes on this site get shared on reddit and vice versa, but not sure who shares them or if the MODS pick and choose...

Thanks. Here are some additional observations I've made on how Viral works. I haven't shared much of my stuff on Reddit or other sites, and I didn't share this one anywhere.

1) I'm really surprised this one made the front page of viral in one day. This image is a meme comment I made on yesterday's top viral meme here: imgflip.com/i/229s51 I made the comment there yesterday morning.

2) With the current volume of site traffic, looks like 5000 views on the first day of a memes life are enough to get on the front page of Viral. This one was on the front page of Viral this morning BEFORE I submitted it. I've found a ton of stuff on the Viral pages that are not submitted memes.

3) I've seen a mod say before that imflip's goal it to automate as possible. I think they're watching Viral to see if it's working like is was intended to, but don't want to or need to move individual memes around.

Doge was one of my first submissions, an old favorite. Comes with five textboxes in the right places.

2) Memes will have their age listed near the "IMAGE DESCRIPTION:", it's shown in hours for the day of their life, in days for the first week of their life, in weeks for the first month of their life, then it's listed in months from there on out. Here is the oldest meme on imgflip imgflip.com/i/9 There is no timestamp on meme comments per se, but they are numbered in the HTML and you can see if one is older than another. For example, your comment I'm replying to is "com2047087"

Ok, you lost me on the second one. How do I get to “Image Description” from the image? And what is HTML?

The location of the image description may depend on what browser you're using, it's near the username on the meme page. HTML = Hypertext Markup Language, code in the meme web page.
