Congrats on being the top meme on the Viral pages!

He’s viral but the meme doesn’t show up under his profile. Still mixed messages - does imgflip want to support its user base, or keep highlighting non-imgflip users (technically I would argue he is not a user although he has an account.) This meme was not featured here.

I'm cool with the new paradigm of Viral, and I like poking around.

This meme is not in his profile because it was never submitted. I looked around the internet, couldn't find where he is sharing it. I noticed my upvote and other upvotes here gave him no points on his profile.

I think there are a lot of users that fly under the radar on imgflip besides dankmem and jefftims. I found this user last year by accident imgflip.com/user/Tantalizing

Found a top users meme that was downvoted to submitted in the top pages of Viral today and I see lots of unsubmitted images made for meme comments in Viral. I think my Doge comment will be one of them tomorrow. 22bddc.jpg (click to show)

I understand the Viral helps imgflip toot it’s horn. I would be happy if they just didn’t put the anonymous memes there. So it showcase ingflip users, whether or not they actually feature the meme or participate in meme commenting.

I saw this chart on a template page a few days ago. It didn't register at the time but maybe the new Viral tab and other recent site tweaks is a reaction to last quarter's epidemic of users leaving and reduced site traffic.

Yes probably but at the same time I don’t know if I would trust that last “dip”, might be a miscalculation / incomplete cycle.

Maybe you can? Perhaps there’s a viral meme with 0 upvotes and we can downvote it to see if it will disappear :)

I already downvoted it! It is anonymous meme, so please join me in my one-time experiment! :) :) I won’t ask to repeat it....

I would be much more comfortable if we found one of ours and sent out a call to friends to help the experiment. I'm pretty sure Viral gets shuffled once a day at midnight PST. OK if I find a self made target for the testing?

It is not submitted/featured, that’s why our comments don’t show up on the profile.

I dont agree there's a mixed message coming down. I think imgflip is supporting it's user base, which is far larger than the regular users we see. I'm guessing more than half the memes on imgflip are anonymously generated using the slack app imgflip.com/slack I remember something in the terms, under "Your Content in our Services" if you make it on imgflip, they can display it anyway they want, submitted or not. I've heard a few grumbles from one or two users about Viral, I think it's a stroke of genius.

I don’t feel that it supports our community. But if it does attract new users (like the users who will actually contribute to our discussions), great for imgflip and for us.

More memes are generated through the Imgflip website than our Slack app by orders of magnitude ;)
