A downvote, like it or not, is freedom of expression.

I'll tell you how I look at IMGFLIP...I am ALWAYS on the latest page...NEVER on the hot.

Therefore, I have to have a way to mark how far back I've gone. EVERY meme gets a vote from me...there's no "if you don't like it, just scroll past it". So, you've got to EARN an upvote from me, it's that simple. If it's a good meme, it's upvoted, if not, it's downvoted.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this meme seems to be getting at the way memes go from featured to submitted if there's too many DVs and you'd like to get rid of that?

If so, that's something that I can get behind. Keep the downvote button but disable the ability for people to drive memes into the ground.

First, thank you for taking time to post a thought out response.

A down vote would be freedom of expression in this visual medium if it was represented visually. From what I can tell, the only function a down vote has is to make an approved meme go from featured to submitted - that is censorship. As censorship, it is inconsistent with "freedom of expression."

As far as voting on every meme, how you use your time is your business. I find most content here is not worth my time one way or the other.

It takes all kinds to make up this world, so people will disagree. I don't have a problem with a down vote as a dislike which would be visually represented by the number being displayed. At no point, should an approved meme be forced back to submission status because someone doesn't like it. So yes, this is anti-censorship meme.
