You asked, "Are you saying that if someone has faith in Jesus as the Son of God and lives like the devil that he still goes to heaven?" No, what I am saying is what I said above. David was an adulterer and a murderer (a transgressor of the commandments), and He was described as a man after God's own heart. Abraham was a liar (a transgressor of the commandments) and God promised Him he would be the father of many nations and was declared righteous by God because of his faith. Moses was a murderer (a transgressor of the commandments) yet God chose him to lead His people out of slavery. Are you getting the picture. Your emphasis is on man not sinning and keeping the commandments, mine is on the sinless One who took away our sin and declares those who believe to be righteous. The faith I am talking about is not a mental acknowledgement that Jesus exists (the one that demons have). The faith that I am talking about is a faith that believes on Jesus for righteousness. Anyone who willing PRACTICES sin does not have faith in Jesus because the new nature does not want to sin (though through the flesh it often does sin, yet nit willingly). Friend, if you think that you don't continue to sin, you are deceiving yourself. 1 John 1:8 says, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." You may not be a murderer like Moses, but are you guilty of pride, selfishness, bitterness, judgmentalism, hypocrisy, greed, lustful thoughts, anger etc? Religion (in the bad sense of the word) focusses on what man does for God, a relationship of faith focusses on what God has done for man. The first leads to pride or guilt but the later always leads to praise and thankfulness to God.
