Back in my day we programmed in BASIC :)

I remember programming classes in BASIC in high school. Black screens, green type. :D

My first year of college I took a FORTRAN class and I swear there were still punchcards being used :)

In the back of my 8th grade homeroom there was a computer teletype machine. With the large unscrolling paper with sprocket holes. I think it may have had punch tape instead of cards, though we never used it. Used to play the most primitive of games, including some kind of fishing game, though I'm vague on the details. Man, we're old. XD

I remember saving programs on cassette lol...old is right :)

That's right! Yeah, that's basically what we did in the high school computer class. When I was a kid the image in people's heads of a computer was a large bank of components with spinning reel tapes. Now all that can fit on a silicon chip many times over. Oh what a world we live in! XD

It's incredible how quickly computers went from science fiction to mainstream. Our high school computer had a 1 megabyte hard drive and we talked in terms of kilobytes :)

Half the stuff in Star Trek has already been surpassed. :D

Never had the pleasure of programming in ALGOL, but I did a little in Pascal which I believe is a descendant of ALGOL :)
