YOU'LL HAVE MORE DISPOSABLE INCOME IF YOU AVOID COLLEGE AND JUST GO WORK AT WALMART | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Every time someone tries to impress me with their salary figure (it's always stated pre-tax, etc., isn't it), I say, "That's great, but how much of it do you keep?"

I never saw the point of wasting your life working multiple jobs just to have to hand it over to somebody else.

:D When I say I see no reason to work multiple jobs in order to give your money away I am talking about consumerism and living beyond one's means. Not to mention obligations such as education debt.

I only mentioned tax in reference to people that throw out their $100,000 salary in boast when we know that's taxed to $70k +/- to begin with. AND then you add the fact that they owe it ALL, and then some, to others and it no longer seems that impressive. My opinion - doesn't have to be yours. :D

If you know someone taking home only $30K on each incremental $100K in salary, they need to move to the U.S. pronto. Or else consult even the most basic tax preparer for some advice.

True story. My son has had a federal job now for a little over a year. He does cyber security. My daughter asked him if there's anything he can do about her student loan debt.

Yeah, I feel sorry for kids these days, pressure's really on them .
Thankfully I held down a govt job for just over 40 years with the same company and changed careers 4 times, but the loyalty's not there these days!

My daughter put in six years of college, always on the dean's list, and got a job in the field she majored in, speech pathology. That was in the early 2000's. Nowadays tuition has to be astronomical. I wish she joined the military like my son did, but, you can't change the past. Two more years of parent loans. I can't wait until it's over.

Just remember, if you don’t pay, they will garnish.

Oh, yeah. And there's interest. We got onto a payment plan which it seems they'll always agree to, because there is interest involved. Never had them garnish our pays ,which is good. A couple of times we hit the lottery and they did not keep any of it. Probably because they know it's getting paid little by little.

Decided to go to Community College after High School, because I knew I wasn't mature enough for university, and my dad would have paid for it. I saved my dad a heart attack; What is just as frustrating is finding a parking spot and getting a spot in classes on day 1 of the semester lol.

I see. Like someone else said earlier, the government will attach your pay. They also have the authority to keep tax refunds, or deny a person in debt to them any kind of benefits.
