War - Series of battles between two sides with one side attacking,and the other side defending
Rebellion - Saying "F**k you!" to whomever controls you or rules over you and deny their control.It is often a violent conflict(battle),but not always

Colonies under British Opression and slaves in America were deliberated by rebeling/rebellion.But I agree with the "Nazis taking over the Europe" part

And I also agree with you that you shouldn't start (or continue) a war if you have no idea how to end it.
