There are about as many Muslims living in America as there are Jews. 5-6 million. You'd think if most of them are as awful as some would have it, they would have taken over already. But most of the people we see mowing down Americans are other mostly white, mostly "Christian" Americans. Logic.

Great point. Just as many, yet far exceeding them or others in acts of terrorism. (Acts of Jewish terrorism in America: 0)

Most Muslims in America are white.

Acts of violence by other groups is hardly grounds for dismissal. Murder is murder, no matter whose balls you're licking.

You're right actually, but I stand by my reply. Tho I was a tad harsh.

My meme was originally a meme comment to someone who was defending Islam, but in a threatening violence sort of way, so I was mocking the irony and hypocrisy.

What troubles me is profiling and marginalizing people who appear middle eastern because they are middle eastern. I personally believe any ethnic or national entity or group have propensity to violence, given the "right" circumstance. And since you mention Jewish terrorism in the U.S., yes they are sometimes still victimized as well, although they are by no means innocent of other criminal activities. I won't dismiss any acts of violence by any person or group.I just wish the impulse was not there to marginalize people who look different. Sorry if I felt you were doing that, I likely misinterpreted the intent of your post.

I'm not saying they're all prone to be that way or should be treated as such, but there is an anti-American/Western mentality they often exhibit. Granted, with all the meddling and wars and exploitation that has been visited upon them, such a reaction is understandable, but it's more than that. In general, of those I have known, only Muslims from countries such as Senegal and Gambia, etc, seem to like it here and the people. From what I've seen, those from Somalia, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe tend to have a certain disdain for America. They don't always make it obvious, but if you're close to them and maybe of some possibly marginalized/alienated ethnicity/race/religion and they're comfortable with you, they'll be more open about such.

Your interpretation was appropriate because I had not added any context. It was a throway meme (as the rest of mine), and was mainly meant to pester that fella from the flame war.
I've had a few spats with him, but months later I entered another one were I ended up sort of defending his position when some anti-Palestinian types got in. He kept quite after I did for the rest of that one.

He is super hostile, but more recently I learned he apparantly is from Iraq. So his anger has its unfortunate source.

Thanks for the explanation. I tend to think that if Muslims are here and know Americans who are decent, they're going to have a more favorable outlook and enjoy our country. Where we live I think that's the case. It's just getting to know people. My parents had a bunch of Muslim neighbors in their town, because the economy was so good, and they got jobs working in industry. They've been around for at least 20 years, mostly from Yemen. We have a Muslim center in our city and most have integrated and adjusted.

I see your point about the hostility and sometimes needing to react to it, though. Thanks again for explaining.
