Learn for the right reason - to empower yourself. Credentials are nice but the understanding, discernment and critical thinking skills a diploma is supposed to represent - are far more valuable than the diploma or degree itself.

Lol I just wanna ask the teachers "how will knowing the square root of a parabola benefit me in life?"

Much of it is teaching you how to solve for the unknowns of life. At one point none of it was. But as we look to quantum physics and the stuff that builds reality as we know - it turns out, the ancients knew more than we realized. Mystics understood plenty - because PATTERNS - and infinite complexity with repetitive elements. Think fractals. Or the golden ratio/mean. Those spirals are everywhere and continue infinitely.

Don't give up. Double down now.

Otherwise you'll end up needing to go backand relearn it all in college. Unless you ALL about the liberal arts. Even then - statistics.

I have nothing against the basics but my dream career is film, so I'm literally luring all my heart and energy into my film class. That's pretty much where my only good grades come from lol

Firstly - not saying I was any different at this stage in my own life. But I had to retake Algebra II/ PreCalc in college - where I tested out of all History and English GED's. And that always sucks. Also my father switched from Film to Medicine in his 30's - so he had to re-teach himself to get into med school. Possible - but not as easy as doing it 1X well. So I can relate. Benefit of hindsight, I 'd find a way to focus more.

And I studied Vis Arts (Media - Film/Vid/photo production + heavy on critcism and analysis ) at UCSD in the 1990's

Anyways, film iz a medium of communication. Understanding and knowledge of things that just help you do it beter and with greater significance and meaning. The How's are the easiest part of it - aside from getting the money....
