That's Marc Bolan who was in a band called T-Rex. He was friends with David Bowie and T-Rex get a mention in "All The Young Dudes" which Bowie wrote. You'd probably know their stuff if you heard it - 20th Century Boy, Get It On, Ride A White Swan etc. Marc Bolan died in 1977 aged just 30 in a car crash but his music has certainly lived on :)
