I'm only new to this so my outlook may be naive but seriously, this kind of politics is wildly out of place on a fun site. If the downvoters targeted some of my more colourful Australian language I could understand; we sware like troopers. But no, they downvote people expressing opinions on matters they see as important. That invalidates a system intended to protect the site and it's users from trolling. The fact that the downvote system is electronic & unpoliced has left it open to the very abuses it was intended to eliminate. If it doesn't work get rid of it.

I'm in favor of modification to the downvote system, what's happening to some users is wrong. The situation makes me think of the imgflip peace treaty
