It's a shame. And it's wrong to destroy historical monuments and statues. That's what Al Qaddafi and ISIS do. I heard older guys who saw war say it's always the people who are most like each other that fight the hardest against each other. Maybe these people should start looking at themselves. Those videos of these idiots toppling civil war related statues looks exactly like an ISIS recruiting video minus the turbans, headscarves and desert sand.

You're exactly right, the Taliban did the same thing in Afghanistan! The Civil War was really fought because of the almighty dollar! At the time the War started there were more millionaires in New Orleans Then in New York City! Yes, Slavery is and was terrible, but there are 3 sides to every story, mine, theirs and the Truth! I feel they should leave these statues alone, they're a part of our history!

They are part of our history. And now that we're talking about it I just realized--to the average northerner a show like the dukes of hazzard is just a show about a bunch of redneck southerners that are all the same!!!

The truth is on its way to being obsolete. The pretend like these things didn't happen idea that's all the rage these days is exactly what history proves happens when history is repeating itself with those types of things.

Why stop there? We can go and dig up the bodies of all the soldiers who gave their lives in The Civil War, and just toss 'em in huge mass graves in a no-man's-land between North and South.
Then go back and re-claim all that newly emptied real estate, and use it to make brand new parking lots, Wal-Marts and Starbucks, and low income housing!

Or, let's just re-write the history books and pretend none of that nonsense ever even happened!
