There's an actual highway of that number somewhere around the four corners region of the Southeast. A bartender told me once of trying to steal one of the signs from the pole only to be caught by a cop. He let him go, but first took him to the trunk of his cruiser to show him where there were several signs stored. Apparently thievery of them was so popular they just had the police prepared to constantly put them back up.
