X, X Everywhere Meme | LOOK WHAT'S BEING POSTED FAKE NEWS! FAKE NEWS EVERYWHERE | image tagged in memes,x x everywhere | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Sorry, but the reason so many are leaving is because, while this is supposed to be a humor site, it has become nothing more than a political rant site. Count the number of political memes being posted, including the CNN ones, and you'll see nothing but spite and lies. Add to that the number of recent NSFW posts that have offended a lot of ladies and are making front page. Aside from fapping material for a 12 year old boy, they aren't that entertaining.

I haven't taken notice, as I brush off most political posts and keep my NSFW turned off the vast majority of the time. I prefer to see ImgFlip for its positive aspects, but I guess it's a little harder for some.

I keep my NSFW on, which shows a lot of basically soft core porn these days (although, it would push the limit of broadcast TV, it would be found barely acceptable)

Political memes? Mostly they're either complaining about CNN or Hillary Clinton. Negative in the extreme, without trying to be funny. Shame, as many of those posters can actually post humorous content if they wanted to do so.

I just sent off a letter to imgflip about the situation. Suggested that they put a T&A option for the soft core that has been offending everyone and a political option for the political ones. Those posters would be upset because they won't have the audience they need to get the upvotes they want. I suspect the suggestive GIFs are being upvoted by young boys that have yet to actually have a women. Similar to many of the political memes, actually.

Wow, it's crazy how much this place has changed. Your ideas do sound fantastic though, and well thought out. I hope the devs will implement them soon!

Usually, if something comes across their desk they like, they'll respond. if they don't care for it, you hear nothing. It would take, likely, several hundred emails (not feedback forms, but actual emails) in their inbox within a period of days.

See if you can post a meme to get people on board. If enough people are willing to help, we may be able to get some results.

I'll try, but there's no guarantee that it would get featured.I've had a few that didn't feature recently. The most recent bothers me because of all the T&A that's been posted here without a second thought, but show a cartoon GIF of a unicorn sticking it's butt in a little girls window and farting rainbows? (you've been warned) If you click it, that is what you'll see.

No, the mods are very uneven about how they handle what features and what doesn't. I'll see what I can come up with and make a post. If it doesn't feature, I'll do a POST YOUR UNFEATURED SUBMISSIONS HERE post.

I'm not sure why I said "spammy"...I think I just meant excessive upvote begging and complaining about things that they are completely clueless about.

I'll get the link to the post. I'm going to ask some other users for input before I post it.

Great idea! It's a real shame that gif didn't feature, it's pretty funny!

It seems that every meme site has been going downhill recently. Even radically different platforms such as iFunny and r/dankmemes are seeing an influx of immature users or "normies" that are ruining memes across all platforms. They create and upvote spammy content and downvote real humor. It's really quite sad.

"Spammy" content? It doesn't sound like immature users, but people trying to make a buck.

Personally I've taken long breaks from this site, and only log in 1-2 times a week anymore; mainly because of the 'yoga pants' crap, and bickering between users. Last time I logged in, I discovered a pathetic loser created an alt to troll my meme comments and down vote my posts. What's with the pissing contest? I came here to make jokes and laugh at other people's creativity.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen you lately. I've already complained about the Vitriolic and prurient posts. As for the trolls, mental health issues. Best you can do is down-vote/flag (depending on their comments) and move on. Ignore them. If they continue (say, a couple dozen times a day, carrying arguments from one post to another) then you have enough evidence to file a stalker complaint.

I decided that not responding was the best response. People who troll, simply desire attention, and feed off negativity. They feel 'big' by trying to make others feel 'small'. I figure if I don't give them the satisfaction they want, then they'll move on to someone who will.
I'd really like this site to enact a 'block' feature, so we can block individuals from seeing/commenting on our posts. I also like your idea of another filter for political memes.

Seeing posts imgflip wouldn't stop, but they do have the capability to prevent certain users from posting.
0 ups, 7y,

I used to do that as well, but I realized that by not logging on as frequently, I wasn't doing much to stop trolls or help out other creators. Not trying to say that you're wrong about anything, that's just a realization I made.
1 up, 7y,

Stopping the trolls (and bickering) is the job (and control) of the owners of this site. I am not an owner of this site; and the owners haven't given me even the simplest control. If they want to alleviate their responsibility then they must allow the community to police itself by allowing users to block trolls from their individual pages. This is the only community site I have been to, that does not have this feature.

Not logging in is a direct response to not having a good time. If you don't enjoy golf, then you don't play or watch it on TV...
I don't enjoy looking at other women's asses, therefore I stopped logging in during leggings week because the community turned into a bunch of immature boys jerking off to images that should have been marked NSFW but weren't. It's not my job to report literally hundreds of NSFW memes a day.
I stopped logging in when, on every page of memes, there was at least one complaining about trolls, or one user belittling another. It's not my job or in my control to make peace.
I stopped logging in when there's an overabundance of (outdated) political memes that contained fake news; and flame wars in the comments instead of jokes. It's not my job to educate the brainwashed.
And now this site if full of children who just want to complain about doing homework. Well wait until these sheltered brats experience the real world. It's not my job to enlighten people with extremely limited world experience.
I log in now to make the memes I want, and watch the rest of the community burn itself down. The community doesn't give a crap about me, and the owners of this site certainly don't either, so why should I care about them?
Last, if the owners actually cared about policing the site (doubtful), and they want to micro-manage it (which they have already proven they are completely inept at doing)... than they need to PAY/hire someone to do that job for them.
1 up, 7y
You're absolutely right. I've been thinking about changes that could be made to the site in order to improve the users' experience, and a block feature is definitely one of the must-haves.

I could blame the horrible meme trends as of late on the presence of younger users on the site, but in truth, I fit into that demographic and would feel like a hypocrite for complaining. I don't like the perverted and outright idiotic content that is being posted, but I don't believe that just one specific group of people is responsible (though it wouldn't be unreasonable to pin a lot of the NSFW stuff on the guys).

I really miss the Imgflip that I joined two years ago, where most of the memes weren't political statements or "eye candy". Everyone just wanted to have a good time, make memes together, and help each other grow. I believe that we can have that community once again if everyone can be reminded of what Imgflip is all about. (Now I feel like a dork because of the emotional attachment I have to a community of people that I've never met. :P) I hope that everything will right itself soon.

Yeah, I've noticed that most of the top front page memes are getting around 100 upvotes or fewer. Used to be many would get up near or above 300
1 up, 7y
Yeah, I wanted to comment on it but it just sounded like I was complaining about not getting upvotes. I'm concerned for a lot of the legitimately funny creators' content, as many of those posts aren't even coming close to the front page anymore. Hopefully all of these 12-year-old trolls will grow up and make this site a better place.
