I think it had to do with all of the political memes that permeated the site this past year. She stepped away until after the election, I guess, and when she came back it was as bad, if not worse, AFTER the election.

It was worse after the election but definitely calmed now.

Finally. I notice it's starting to build back up, though.

123Guy was called a troll because he pointed out how so many top users stole memes from other sites and posted them as their own. I have done the same. I guess I'll get banned soon too. I have no problem with reposts or shared posts, just give the OP credit instead of pretending it's yours. The Tops don't want to do that, they want to maintain their Top status and if they admit most of their memes are stolen they will lose their spot.

123Guy is still here. He just posted a meme not too long ago. He may be limited on his posting ability, though, because of some recent comments he made on some front page memes.

Shabbyrose, TammyFaye, and LIIR007? Not sure. I know from some conversations earlier this year, several women here were considering leaving because so many of the theme weeks being run were getting to be too sexist. It used to be that a NSFW post wouldn't make page one, but lately, they appear all over the hot pages. Theme weeks like Yoga Week and Cleavage Week and the most recent NSFW week, went over board and several were thinking about leaving.

Maybe some of them just have other stuff to do or are out of commission for a while. I just had shoulder surgery and I'm doing my best to make a few memes with one hand. I'm mostly re-submitting my memes that were downvoted to submitted status. I'm gonna be in this sling til the middle of August.

I feel sorry for 123guy. Apparently he was a real jerk about the theme weeks? I saw a lot of comments accusing him of being a troll that were pretty trollish themselves. He had some funny memes.

If you want to see his memes, go to the all time top users and click on his username. He posted earlier today, but may not be making the hot pages. He ticked off a lot of people with his comments. Besides accusing people of reposting or stealing memes, he's also accused several people of spamming. While he would post links to his memes on other peoples memes, he would get mad if the OP acknowledged those that commented on their memes. Basically, a majority of people here are shunning him because of his argumentative, and often uncalled for, comments and replies.
