Eh, it was okay. Stayed completely sober as I'm helping my mom train her new puppy. :)

A puppy! Dogs are great! Chew the hell out of your furniture sometimes as pups but the right breed maters when choosing where you live. Been having BBQ 's at the camp and fishing . Enjoying the food and the slow pace of relaxation. Other than My brother in law causing a scene to because he drank to much beer ( his wife needed to drive him home and put him to bed, lol) much needed break from work . To bad it has to end.

Good dog, so far. Havanese/Maltese mix. Cute as hell. I won't be doing anything over the holiday tomorrow either. Will be hanging around in case the pup freaks out with the fireworks. Your weekend sounds great. :)

I needed to look up those breeds! Lol. Yes, animals hate fireworks even most babies too! My daughter when she was one year old was so freaked out by fireworks that she projectile vomited all over her grandparents. That one brought out embarrassing stories over the years! We live across from a big park that the town holds it's fireworks show in. Our dog would pace one side of the house to the other. The louder the booms the faster he paced. No where to hide! Enjoy your time with mom and her pup!

She's a Havamalt, which gives me a thirst for a malted milkshake whenever I hear it. :) My mom's last dog, which I considered my dog also (same with the new one), didn't have any problems with fireworks, she'd just bark at the particularly loud ones. In the past we'd have to get tranquilizers from the vet for the dogs we'd have. The new one didn't like the vacuum cleaner so I'll probably have to turn the air conditioner up loud.

I had a beagle because at the time loved rabbit hunting. Kids came along and dog was part of the family. Once in awhile he got out of the house and liked to chase people on bicycles. He didn't bite them, but howled like he was chasing a rabbit which freaked the bikers out! Fireworks made him nervous as hell and he paced. Animals are like humans, they all have unique personalities. And just like humans, some can be assholes but usually not to you.my wife has a cat, and they cat is so jealous it hates it if anyone gets near my wife including me! He's an asshole! Lol

Our dogs have always been more like a family member than an animal. I'm a firm believer that pets are there to be spoiled. :)

Yes, when the kids were small we go for walks in the park with our dog his name was Remington, after the Remington 870 12 gauge rabbit gun I used. Anyhow, I began to realize that the people at the park who had dogs, didn't name them duke, bullet, sparky, king, or any of the names used back in the day. They were using human names. That's when I realized most people at the parks were dinks ( double income no kids) and the dogs were their children. Nothing wrong with that, just a shift in how people feel about animals being equal to themselves. Growing up my grandfather told me to ride with him and shovel a hole because his dog was old and he was "putting him down" that was excepted then. Today, it's animal cruelty and a criminal offense. Amazing how fast norms change in our country.

Two things: there's such a thing as a rabbit gun? and - yeek - your grandpa made you dig the hole he was burying his shot dog in? :O
