Unbelievers say they don't need anybody or anything

Are there consequences?

I was a drug addict and I would lie, cheat, and steal to stay high. I got myself locked up for six months and put on probation for five years. I faced going to prison for the remainder of my probation but I still wouldn't stop my favorite sins of drug abuse and sexual fornication.just long enough to get off of probation. I found ways to duck and dodge my probation officer so that I could go out and sleep with my girlfriends and get high. I put my freedom in jeopardy and ultimately my health to fulfil the lusts of my flesh even though I used to pride myself on, "not being so mentally weak that I needed a crutch to lean on to get me through life." But I was totally blind to the fact that my lifestyle and my pet sins were my crutch. The only thing that kept me from having to face the legal consequences of my sinful lifestyle were the health consequences. I got so sick with kidney failure and had to start dialysis treatments that the probation officers didn't lock me up.

Well, I never said I don't need anyone. I never needed God, but that's all.
I'm pretty sure that was the human body reacting to overdosed drugs, for one thing.
The other thing is that I don't know where unbelievers or atheists come into this story. I'm quite certain we're mostly aware of the dangers of drugs and lusts.
I originally thought the consequences you were talking about were things like Hell and such, which is why I asked if there were consequences. I'll admit my mistake there.
