As teenageers my two brothers and I used to go to our grandparents every other weekend and help them mow the lawn. It it was a half acre lot and a lot of work, even with two walking gas mowers. They used to feed us lunch and we got to spend time with them and that was reward enough. One Saturday we were eating sandwiches. Ham,salami and cheese. My grandmother had a package that looked like deli meat and made herself a sandwich. I asked what she had. She told me "head cheese. Want some?" I figured more cheese wouldn't hurt on my sandwich. I looked at it and hadn't ever seen any cheese like it before. She laughed and explained that it was cow brains molded together. I almost puked on the kitchen table.

FACT: Marco Polo discovered spaghetti (cooked noodles) when he was in China, and brought the idea with him back to Venice. Noodles existed in Asia many many years before Europe knew about them.
