The belief is complicated and varies slightly depending on the paticular sect of Christianity. One common interepretation is that Jesus was god incarnate. Beliefs also get complicated due to interpretations of words like "spirit" and "soul" (words that probably have slightly different connotations from the language they were translated from anyhow).
