King George was not a conservative. He was a monarch. Monarchs are not conservative or liberal. They think they are entitled to rule. Although, that premise does sound familiar.

He was conservative in the sense that he sought to conserve the privileges that he and those like him had and which revolutionaries sought to get rid of. But you are right in the sense that monarchs rarely thought of themselves within the political realm. It was God's will.
