There Are many craft beers being brewed today in my state.I rarely drank beer back in the day unless we went to Canada and bought molson Brador malt liquor (8 percent alcohol I think) I always felt American beer was Low grade swill as far as I was concerned! Lol

Almost non alcoholic! When I worked in clubs there was Bud, And Miller! We would restock a hundred cases of Bud to 10 cases of Miller.

If I had to choose between the two, and I rarely do, I'd pick a Bud. I have a few friends who'll jump on the Miller wagon when there's no crafts to be had, or the money is slight, or there just trying to get drunk, but I always thought Miller had an odd back taste to it. Then one day I was reading an article that mentioned the writer detected a slight tinge of vegetable oil in Miller and I thought 'EUREKA!' ;)

I know the quality and the alcohol content is almost as high as wine in some of those beers today

I've maxed out at 18% with a special edition of Delaware's Dogfish Head 120 Minutes barleywine. I can usually get something between 9% and 13% whenever I go to The Civic taproom about three minutes walk from my dock. 6 or 12 oz pours of course.

Canada had molson "skunk" beer 5 percent alcohol but it was far better than anything you could get in the states. My uncle drank Utica club, genesee shlitz, pabts blue ribbon. Supper swill!

I indulge in PBR if I go to my favorite dive and need something to wash down the liquor.

The barleywine? Not necessarily if you get a 6 or 12 oz they're higher in alcohol so you don't need as much. Often around $6 or $7 but you're not drinking as fast and you're getting a better bang for you buck than a $2.50 pint of PBR.

Pbr! I remember when I was 17 this girl told me "beer makes me want it" so I scrapped together $ 2.00and bought 2 three for a dollar 16 oz pbrs and drove my chevy pickup to the sandpit! Thanks for bringing back the memory! Lol

Portland is responsible for the reinvigorization of PBR. The company decided to target the city to give hip cred to their old swill and it worked. Now they even have their own summer music festival here with relatively well-known acts. When I drink it I do so because it's doesn't have much forward taste and low enough alcohol that you can slam quite a few. Sort of like when I go over to a friend's to watch wrestling or racing and we buy 'yellow beer' to drink between the better, stronger craft beers. Makes the night last longer. ;)

What state is that? You can find good craft beer brewed almost anywhere in the states. But we have more breweries in Oregon than anywhere else and Portland itself holds the record for most breweries within the city limits in the US (or maybe the world?). Portlanders are alcoholics, but we're alcoholics with taste. :)
