The unfortunate life of a pug

The unfortunate life of a pug | I am a pug; I have a truncated face from humans' cruel manipulations of nature. This makes it so hard to breath. My snout, rendered dysfunctional by evil genes, aches with my every breath. I'm condemned to forever suffer for the glee of my masters; wut you think our puggo would say if he could talk? probably ask to sniff our butts lol | image tagged in memes, pugs, animals, dog | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

I was just talking to someone about Persian cats and similar issues last night.
Horrible.

Bulldogs, the whole bunch. Many breeds have a host of problems due to inbreeding as well.
I always wondered if any of these breeds are in constant pain, we have no way of knowing (then again, how many people care?). Tumbler pigeons - birds with vertigo, my gosh.

Most bulldog breeds are actually fine when it comes to breathing. They don't have collapsed sinuses like pugs do. Bulldogs were bread to be how they are for hunting purposes, so that they could latch on to the side of a game animal and still breath, without their nose being smothered by the animal's flank.

Their faces are nevertheless distorted to the point that comfort is in question.
Due to a who;e host of problems, general life expectancy is a mere 8 years.
They were originally bred to fight bulls in pits. However, pictures of the way they used to look over a century ago show a different animal. They were built more like it pit bulls today, not the compact malformed cumbersome creatures we see now.

That's true. My experience is more with European breeds that haven't changed much since the thirteenth century.
