I think upvoting is on an extended vacation of late. Kinda disappointing really.

I have seen some great memes recently that got 15 views and just my upvote. Why? I think some only upvote known heavyweights (not disparaging the heavyweights), but it seems that original, clever memes are losing out to current events and gifs.
I don't really have a problem with either, but new members posting great memes not getting upvoted won't hang around. I have been getting two upvotes mostly and I pretty much know who the upvoters are that are doing it and I truly appreciate it.
So to the upvoters, thank you. To the lurkers with an account viewing, but no upvotes, why?

It takes more than just submitting a couple things a day and hoping they get seen to get a lot of attention. The reason the top people get more upvotes is because they spend the most time on here upvoting and commenting others which gets their name out there so they increase their own odds of being seen. I was gone for a few weeks and not able to comment a lot like I enjoy doing, so nothing I've submitted recently has done very well even though I am #4 on the top 100 board. Sure it's possible everything I have submitted recently has sucked, I'm not one to get upset over lack of upvotes though. I'd rather use my submissions to try and make people laugh not to tell them they aren't upvoting me as much as I think they should be ;) All you can do is go upvote and comment on any meme you think is funny, if people like your comment when they see it they are more likely to check out your profile page to see what you have submitted. The more funny comments you make the better your chances of gaining views becomes. It's really pretty simple but it does take some time and effort....

The problem as stated before is new members submitting really good, clever memes and getting little to zero up votes. The well known members get more upvotes sometimes just because they are well known. I do not hold that against them. Raydog makes sure to comment back to each commentator and that's fine. Earns him more upvotes.
But ignoring or merely viewing good memes because the op is not well known is a great way to make sure they find another site to send time on. I don't comment in many memes, but I upvote good effort as much as I can. It reinforces that effort is rewarded, even if they only post a single meme now and then.

If I see it any meme and like it I upvote it no matter who made it. There are a ton of good memes on this site every day and sorry but the user has to take it upon themselves to get their name out there. If people are popular they put in a lot of effort to get there. If somebody feels sorry for themselves for not getting noticed and thinks they can go find a different website where you can get popular with the absolute minimum amount of effort than good luck to them. I've made over 18,000 creations and very few out of all of those has done well and received a lot of upvotes. The point I'm trying to make is that the more stuff you make the better the chance you have of being noticed that is it. If people are out there upvoting only people they like no matter what they make then yeah that sucks. But I'm not going to hold popularity against somebody who earns it either. I have yet to see anybody get popular by only making their submissions every day and nothing else. There are simply too many people here making good memes and doing only that, you have to be an active member out there having a good time to get noticed. I had never seen your name until your comment here, so my first impression is here is somebody that the first comment I see is one asking why good memes are only getting 15 views. I tried explaining it to you but I guess that just made you mad. If you are relying only on the latest stream when your meme features for people to learn anything about you or if your memes are funny you are limiting people's ability to view you. Sure it can happen that a meme will take off that way, but it's very rare. So I ask you, why would anybody that wants their memes to be seen do the bare minimum and not go out commenting as much as possible, a funny comment meme is just as good as a funny submission, so go be funny all over the place with comments and people will notice that. It sure beats having their first impression of you being complaining that the site isn't fair and that people are just going to leave to these other sites where apparently every meme made is seen a lot more with a ton more upvotes?? Of course popular users are going to get more views and upvotes, that's the definition of being popular. That's like saying only the starting athletes in a game score the most points, you can't get on the board if you aren't in the game...

If that's how you feel I'm not going to keep trying to give you the same advice that many have listened to and done very well around here with it. Good luck getting seen, I checked your page and you do have some good memes, hope it works out for ya....
