Jus' kiddin'. To me all this so-called 'progressive' shouting on campuses are more of a conservative bent; privileged children wanting a return to halcyon days that never existed, or closing up avenues of open debate for fear of losing what power you perceive you have. To me liberalism is all about freedom and openness. Freedom of speech, free trade, open markets and borders and open thinking and academic freedom. If you don't like what someone said then get back in their face and argue; that's YOUR free speech. Don't try to shut down those who offend you, that's what the right-wingnuts try to do. Even your bud Reagan, who I honestly confess I didn't like, fought for a liberal post-WWII world order under a Pax Americana with a strong military. Thatcher was a cold-hearted bitch who cared little for those who were in the classes below her, but she was right to take out the militant unions that were hamstringing her country's government and economy. Nowadays I'm as likely to have an argument with a lefty about the good of globalization as I am to have one with a righty whining about Muslims.
This weekend is likely to be a dry one. My mum's heading out to her daughter's place to visit her granddaughter for the weekend and I'm going to take care of her old dog in town. Maybe a bit of cannabis chocolate at most. :)
