Well the opposite of diplomacy would be going absolutely nothing, or war. Yesterday we did neither. Rather, we sent a clear message, that we will not tolerate terrorism or war crimes against humanity. Make no mistake, this was not just a military airbase, this was also a chemical weapons weapons depot backed by such groups like Iran and Hezbollah. This was a terrorist target in retaliation for a terrorist attack that could have caused American lives too. We had Americans on the ground. The President did nothing wrong, he kept his word with a limited response. He didn't declare war on a Sovereign Nation, but he did ask Congress to be resolute on this issue. He also notified congress. We must remain vigilant, but make no mistake, Radical Orthodox Islam has declared war on us.
I'll tell you what needs to be done: We need to take Assad out, we need to empower the rebels on our side and hopefully the remaining Christians who weren't slaughtered by ISIS. We need to place limited troops on the ground to ensure stability in the region so that another vacuum doesn't arise like Obama allowed. We need to take out ISIS and take a limited spoil to reimburse us for our contribution. We don't need to get involved nation building, but we need to tell whatever government replaces Assad, that they had better not try anything like this again.
To Hell with Russia, the UN, and any other arrogant authority. We are the United States, not the United Nations, we should not tolerate anyone who stands against our interests. If Russia wants to start a war with us after we took precautions to ensure their safety, that's fine, let them come, we will show the world our resolve. The days of putting America last are over.
