I find it funny you would say you "Didn't realize he was gay."

That's just funny to me. Imagine if someone said "I Didn't realize he was straight."

Why would/should we "realize" what sexuality people are? Seems like a weird thing to point out or notice. It's not a characteristic that would stand out or be noticed like being short or fat. LOL saying "I didn't realize he was skinny." would be odd too for other reasons.

Funny thing is where a pro athlete played college ball may not be THAT important it *IS* in the timeline of their achievement. It's something that is statistic or relevant to their current state of being.

Someones sexuality means NOTHING in any context to any other part of a persons "make up" or job or anything.

Personally I think a better analogy is a sports buff not knowing the sexuality of one of their favorite players. Because it doesn't matter.
