Now that you've 'splained it, I get where you're coming from. I apologize for the snarkiness of the meme comment.
I'd never actually heard of them white ribbon folks before, so I can't say you're necessarily wrong... I can sort of see both sides of it here: on the one hand, his purpose was specifically to address male on female violence, but on the other hand, there is that old saying, "Evil wins when good people do nothing." He should have at least acknowledged the fact that such violence as you describe is unacceptable, then returned the focus to their primary objective.
Having said that, I must take issue with that last statement. There are corrupt hypocrites among them, I am certain, but you seem to be saying that is all their members are. It is incorrect to say, "All [group] are [adjective]s." Unless, of course, that is the stated purpose of the [group] (i.e. Aryan Brotherhood certainly is racist). I'm not trying to bust your chops, but you can't judge them all just because this guy was a douche. Think on that, please.
