I didn't know there was a cartoon!!

My job here is done ;)

It ran 22 episodes from 1973-74, with the original main actors (except for Chekov) providing the voices and some of the stories by the same writers who worked on the first series. Some were quite good, but unfortunately its potential was wasted by making it a Saturday morning kids' show and Filmation's poor animation.

That was before I was born, I guess that is why I don't remember!!! I have to look it up and watch them though!!

Star Trek cartoon! Awesome!

There's a Star Trek cartoon? Wow. :)

I remember if, and really wanted to watch it, bit my schedule usually conflicted. What I did see was damn good since the company that produces it, Filmation, had the crappiest cartoons on the air.

A cartoon is free from the limitations of having to use human actors in makeup, so you can make some cool aliens, ships and planets. The ship's navigator, for example, was a triped. The picture is something cool they did, called a "life support belt," which generated a personal force field. The reason they did it is so they wouldn't have to draw the characters in space suits, just a yellow outline around them.
