I've got a few suggestions that may have started it, or have been catalysts. :o

Donald Trump- his victory and inauguration sparked anger and cheer in the two different parties, and look what happened!

Natalie_vance- I shouldn't blame one user, but she's encouraging negativity..

The Old Liberals stream- With its discovery, trust has been quite fragile among memers =o

That's true. I've been burdened by the echo chamber. I once voiced an opinion on Obama, and that didn't go much somewhere! :o

I haven't seen shit from the Republican Heavyweight! I've rarely seen TodaysReality and reallyitsjohn around, and socrates hasn't been helping at ALL!! Pretending it doesn't exist.. alluding to memes made by you and Olympian instead of signing the treaties.. Jeez!! >=(

I feel like it has nothing to do with any of these reasons, but users stating their own beliefs on politics. I been trying to follow most of Octavia's comments to upvote them to help him out, and I even started leaving my own comments as well. I say about one week into the New Year is when I started to notice this kind of activity, but I didn't care much about it at this time.

That could be one reason.
