I think knowing this about Abraham Lincoln gave a lot of people a sense of comfort. Many agree our nation is in a turbulent time and strongly divided. But this story tells us that it isn't new, isn't the first time, and that we as a nation have survived such times before.
I'm not at all suggesting Trump is Lincoln of course. But I am challenging some "more reasonable" liberals to consider the facts and the similarities and ask themselves, "Perhaps you've misjudged not only President Trump, but your own role in history."
