Solar is promising but still lacks the support to make it official. Coal and oil have a bigger voice to the government, even though they won't last forever...
I had a pony when I was 11. I never became a great horseman, bit I sure enjoyed riding him. Stepdad sold him the following year, but that was a great year for me.
We had a horse and milking cow farm. Belgium horses and jerseys. Plus the normal mix of farm animals . My dad offered me a pinto for my birthday I asked for a motocross lol

Farms we lived on we didn't farm: we rented the house and had use of outbuildings. When I had the pony, he had a chicken coop for shelter. We also had chickens, ducks, rabbits, and a runt pig as well as dogs and cats.
Closest neighbors were a mile or so down the road, so I did a lot of walking if I wanted to see my friends. Some raised beef cattle, but I spent a lot of time visiting one friend that lives in a dairy farm. Fresh milk in a gallon pickle jar!
Sounds like a nice childhood. My nearest neighbor was around half a mile away and we rented her barn and field to hay and store it in. We kept our pigs and chickens there. The farm was so old it had hand pumped water. And Ida, the old lady that owned the farm, was still using a out house and also had a hand pumped water. Her only heat was the wood stove (We used to bring in her wood for her) She was a tough old bird lol
