I'm guessing you forgot that Trump is an AWARD WINNING ACTOR. And the award has nothing to do with the Trump organization; Al Pacino, Lawrence Olivier, Kelsey Grammar, Dennis Hopper, Woody Harrelson, Tom Selleck, Sylvester Stallone and Charlton Heston have all won the same award.

So when you look at Trump's career, you think "actor" is his claim to fame? That might be why YOU pay heed to his political views but it's not why the majority of Americans do.

So basically, you're the arbiter of whether or not he's a true scotsman. Wait, the fallacy's showing...

The point is, Trump was a politician running for office and will soon be our president. That's why people give a rat's tail about his political points of view -- not because he's been on TV or in movies.

He's not a politician. He's a celebrity that said a bunch of stupid shit and got elected solely because he speaks at a third grade reading level.

So I guess you read at a third grade speaking level :)

Trump: "We should murder some f**king children for being sand ni**ers."

His voters: "I UNDERSTOOD EVERY WORD IN THAT SENTENCE!"

Well, I'm not a Trump supporter so I guess that why I don't understand what you're trying to say most of the time. But it sounds like you're a sucker believing whatever bogus crap liberals toss out there. Do you have a source for your bogus quote, or is it just another voice in your head? :)

Did Meryl Streep ever run for political office, much less President?

Trump's a film actor. He won an award for it.

there was a Razzie 'award' for a short bit in a movie.... the movie itself won a bunch of Razzies.... totally meaningless reference.. Obama has also appeared on very many shows (much more than any other President, I think), and has done parody and self-parody bits...

Meanwhile, Trump hosts SNL and does nothing but brag about how great he is. He had NO SENSE OF SELF AWARENESS and told absolutely NO JOKES. "Oh, Omarosa!"

Obama has set the record for how many kitschy talk show, and related comedy appearances made.... This discussion is all so irrelevant -- just more sour milk...

Except when Obama is delivering sick burns, he doesn't go "F**K YOU, KILL YOURSELVES!!". Trump did though.

That's not his main occupation and he ran for and won political office. That's why people pay attention to His political views. Why the news media makes such a big deal about what a movie star (who isn't running for or in a political office) thinks is beyond me.

Bit, politician and elected official aren't his main occupations, either.

As it stands right now, her opinion is just as important as yours or mine. The difference is that her professional career allows her to reach a lot more people than you or I. To complain about it comes across more as jealousy than actual outrage. Still, the door is open to fresh faces. Go into the entertainment business, pick the field that best suits your talent, and pursue it. Or become a millionaire like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet.

Who is complaining? The meme is just a tongue in cheek jab at Hollywood elitists who use their popularity to spread political propaganda. When and if Meryl Streep runs for office in an area where I have a vote, then I might care what she thinks. Until then, I could really care less about her political views.

It's funny: until I saw all the memes about it here, I wasn't aware she'd said anything. Seriously. I don't have a working television in the apartment, I don't get the newspaper, and I don't listen to the radio much.

One, maybe two memes on the subject, I could have ignored and her public comments would have been wasted. Instead, she said something so offensive that her biggest detractors become her press agents.

In Hollywood there is an old saying that there is no such thing as bad publicity, and it's true. The harder her detractors push, the harder her supporters push back.

You can get a free ObamaTV..... It only has MSNBC, CNN, and a 24-hour channel showing Sean Penn movies and Michael Moore documentaries...

It's Chik Fil A all over again. Remember a few years back, IIRC, they had taken an anti gay stance. Supposedly, there was to be a boycott of the restaurants. Detractors vs supporters. Supporters were lined up out the door to get a sandwich. Their highest grossing sales day, ever. It didn't effect me. I have only tried doing business with then once, but they were closed because it was Sunday. This was back in '75. Boycott? Nah, just no interest since then.

Papa John's? In 2012, his business ethics was released and every one on the left freaked and called for a boycott. I couldn't do it because I stopped doing business with the company in 97. Why? Because of the lousy service. Funny that I noticed it back then but nobody else did.

No, I rarely do the knee jerk boycotts because the actions of the corporations hit decades earlier.

Streep? I respect her as an actress and understand she is at the top of her craft, but I think the only thing I've seen her in was a comedy called Death Becomes Her. Boycott? Nope, she just choses roles in films that don't interest me.

Ask me my least fave entertainer, I'd say Dice Clay. His comedy routines aren't funny. Shame, as he's a damn good actor but box office poison.

You think an activist shouldn't be heeded because she didn't run for office.
0 ups, 7y
Yes, I don't care about the political opinions of someone who uses their movie star fame to spread false perceptions, especially when they have no skin in the game. It's like taking medical advice from an actor who's not a real doctor, but plays one on TV.
But if heeding rhetoric of someone -- because you like a character they played in your favorite movie -- makes you feel better then go ahead. Nobody's stopping you.

Sorry. I guess you didnt see that as the joke it was meant to be. I guess this means something to you. Ok. Let's look at the irony of you telling me "you must care; you commented" in a thread about a post you made commenting on an opinion you claim not to care about. "But wait," you'll say. "I only asked why should I care?" Which is what I asked you. Why would anybody care about your opinion more than you care about Merrill Streep's?
