It may have come about by his appearances on Letterman, too. First time I ever heard of him was when he did an appearance on the show and it wasn't his first one.

I don't say this disparingly, but he has spent much of the last 40 years creating himself as a brand. It'll be up to his kids to perpetrate that brand after he's gone. Being president helps.

Cool. But my meme never mentioned "celebrities". I was referring to actors. They should just stick to making movies. Meryl Streep makes a big fuss over Trump mocking a reporter, yet she gave a standing ovation to Roman Polansky winning an award after he was charged with raping a 13 year old girl.

Politicians need that star power. If Trump didn't have it himself, he would never have lasted the primaries.

By the same token, the stars, regardless of their field, need to keep their name in front of people to be bankable. Streep knew that she'd piss off Trump and his supporters. She's now more bankable at the box office because of the outrage. Boycott her next film and even hold a protest at the theaters around the country. In show business, there is no such thing as bad publicity. Even in Polanski's case. I'll get to that momentarily.

It's like when another actor interviewed an empty chair about 4 years ago. Did you hear the hu and cry from liberals about that interview? No, they didn't get offended. They were too busy laughing at Clint Eastwood. I don't think it hurt his career any.

The truth is, movie actors have the same rights as you do, protected by the first amendment. If they don't like a candidate, just like you, they have the right to speak out about it. With the internet, you have as much voice as they do. There are plenty of blog pages available and your memes make a good headline. Utilize those. Build your following, but be prepared to dispute dissenters intelligently.

As for Roman Polanski. He's still a fugitive from justice. The US has attempted to extradite him in no less than twice this century. Both times, the request was denied.

His victim? Now in her 50s, feels she's been raped worse by the press than by Polanski. She did, however, file a civil suit against him for damages, which was settled and has been paid. She'd rather putbthat behind her. Polanski won't reenter the US, eben though there are other avenues of Justice he can pursue, as pointed out by the LA prosecutor's office. He's 84, he'll be dead soon enough.

Right. And I'm not proposing that they not be allowed to criticize Trump, I'm just saying that Hollywood is out of touch with average Americans and have an over-inflated view of their opinions. Most of Hollywood supported Hillary and thought America would follow their lead because they in a bubble and don't understand the problems of average Americans.

I am proposing this. Any one found defiling Great Leader must be served swift justice!

Yup, and they paid heavily for that.

Being out of touch with the average American is common among the elite of the country. Two candidates hit it, but only one got the nomination. Hillary, for all of her education and connections was clueless. Gobto coal country and say that you're goal is to close down coalmines? Of course her staff was no better.

I grew up in a town that was staunch Democrat. You put a pair of pants on a tree and say it was a Democrat, and it'd get 80% of the vote. That tree would have done better than Hillary.

Trump was able to figure out there was a problem and knew what to say. He convinced my staunch Democratic stronghold hometown into voting for him.

He's got a full plate to deal with. His cabinet selection is already drawing criticism. I'm going to let him prove himself. But he doesn't have the luxury to take his time. His supporters will demand action, now. His detractors are going to ride him worse than the tea party rode Obama, if for no other reason, retaliation.

I'm a pundit that focuses on the humor of politics. You'll notice I've not done much with Trump, although his hair has been open season for years, but he'll get some barbs from me over time. Every president has since LBJ.

I've got to do a little more research on Hillary planning to run for mayor of New York. I've not checked it out at all, but when I saw a couple posts about it, all I could think of was to compare Hillary's political career to that of Nora Desmond's fictional Hollywood status. "I'm ready for my close up, Mr. DeMille".

He worked both games at the same time. Doors magically open when you're well known, so he built his brand almost from the start.

Most celebrities either stay in show business or move into business as their star fades. Fess Parker, Beverly Garland, and Debbie Reynolds fall in that category. Other went into business first, only to gain celebrity later, sometimes as a second career. Ben Stein is a good example of that entertainer, without going into celebrity chefs.

Never underestimate the power of celebrity. Look at his show, The Apprentice. It was an open audition for a single job in his organization. It worked well, but somebody decided instead of the job, they'd get celebs raising money for their various charities. Ratinfs skyrocketed because of that. At the same time, he was able to use his own celebrity, although often through his reps, to open doors with some of the biggest businesses to offer product testing/development at a major reduced cost, but to include national publicity.

Expect Hollywood to produce more politicians and be more vocal about candidates in the future. We may not like what they say, but they are a powerhouse.

Meanwhile, the internet has opened doors to allow a lot of common people to become a celebrity voice. How we handle it reflects back on our choices.

Right now, I see Conservatives trying to keep the country divided even though they are in control of much of our government. Likewise, I see liberals do the same. I'm taking the wait and see tactic. Notice that, even if I disagree with you on things, I don't diss the president-elect. I want to see solutions to our problems.

I did a partial list the other day of those just off the top of my head. I just stuck to the entertainment field, never touching sports.

That could actually be a profitable venture. No, not them running for office, but a fantasy political team like fantasy football. Picture head to head primaries and then elections. Limbaugh vs Stewart. Streep against Palin.

The idea is out there. I'm an idea man. Someone wants to take it and develop it, go for it. If it's highly profitable, just find me a job in the organization.
