I have watched a few episodes of Star Trek on TV when I was younger. I honestly just never had the urge to watch Star Wars. Maybe one day I'll binge watch some of the movies if nothing else just so I know what you guys are talking about lol

If you're expecting hard science fiction, Star Wars is not hard SF. It's closer to the old swashbuckler movies of Errol Flynn or Douglas Fairbanks. It has a lot of themes rolled into one, including romance and, initially, a rivalry for the fair Maiden's hand. Fortunately, part of that love triangle was squashed when it turned out a suitor was actually the girls twin brother.

Yeah, but now Lynch has to figure out who the brother and sister are. Or if they're even human
