Thought y'all would get a kick outta this twist...

when you think about it... it goes against the others. The others deal with religious artifacts, while Indy 4 deal with... Aliens.

Also, Indy should stick to fight Nazis.

I've heard that argument before, but it really doesn't. It's based on a real myth of the crystal skulls and the ultimate discovery for an archaeologist would be to find these. It's not anymore fantastical than the "temple of doom".

It takes place in the 50s because that's how old Indy would've been.

I don't doubt it, but how doesn't it? (besides showing that time passes with some all the characters).
The temple of doom was a weird one. It was the only one George Lucas directed. How does aliens actually stand against to religion? The Indy series does put those two elements together.
I know the legends of the crystal skulls. I've seen the images. I just don't think that making them an actual alien skull was the best move.

Plus, I understand that Indy would have been that old. I'm just saying that he should stick to one enemy. Plus, some of the action scenes are just ridiculous. I mean, just hear me out; Shia Lebouf swinging on vines, sword fighting, and helped by monkeys?

The sword vs. gun looks way better, now doesn't it?

I always liked him shooting the dude with a sword, but yeah, the monkey scene was stupid.

I just don't have a problem with it being about aliens. If you watch Ancient Aliens, there's plenty of evidence of ancient cultures being influenced by an outside force (e.g. the fact that multiple cultures who never had any contact with one another built pyramids and produced some kind of depiction of similar entities).

If you look at Egyptian hieroglyphics, there's even some drawings of UFOs or the Mayan depiction of King Pacal seemingly operating the controls to a space ship.
