I thought knowing what cracker mean's is common knowledge

The thing is we actually have turkey for Christmas dinner lol There is the phrase "It's like turkeys voting for Christmas" meaning to agree to something that will cause you pain or hardship.
Since I'm from California and have never been to the United Kingdom, and trust me I watched some movies that take place there and I never heard anyone mention that word in that context.
