To be honest, I don't truly align with the Democratic Party. Sure, they're the party with the liberals, but during the Civil War that was the Republican Party. The Democrats were conservatives, basically.
I just politically go as "liberal" and that's it. No names of Democrat or Republican to settle in because while the Democratic party supports gay rights now, back in the day they had the Confederate Flag (which is now toted by Republicans these days), so I don't call myself "Democrat" or "Republican". Just "liberal", or "libtard" if one must, and that's it. If there's a politician with more liberal than conservative values(such as gay and trans rights), than I elect them, despite the party.

This is the first time we've agreed on something. I'm not republican, but I hold values that come closer to the values of the majority of republicans...at least what they "claim" to be. Against abortion, against homosexual marriage (although I believe they have the right to marry, I believe it's a state's rights issue, not federal government's), pro second amendment, etc, etc.

Trust me, I'm not fooled one bit. Everyone (in both parties) were far mor conservative in those days. Both parties have gone a lot more left over the years, but democrats are even farther left than republicans.

It's the same with me: I support what most modern-day democrats support, but I don't call myself a democrat. The fact that we go by a two-party system kind of winds things up a lot. :P
