Theoretically, promises would be made to those most populated cities at the detriment of the rest the country. Or in other words... Bernie Sanders

well yeah, just another reason why it wouldn't happen without introducing a similar system. while the drones swarm in their beehives (i.e. people in largest cities) declaring themselves to be the aristocrats, the rest of the USA would probably revolt and either civil war would break out (serving no one's best interest), or the Union would break up and leave those large cities in a state of panic. For all the education and intellect certain individuals claim to have, they certainly know how to shoot themselves in the face. Street smarts can't be taught in school.

Except he's from Vermont and has been for years. So I think he's more for rural America than you may think. He's also the only candidate that actually cared about working people.

That's the difference between libs and conservatives. Less government is good for the working people, more government of good for the non working people. My comment about ending up with BS is to say he, or any other politician, would go to the highest populations dependant on the government and promise them free " fill in the blank." That's exactly what happens now, that's why we have "flyover" states. The point of the electoral college is to prevent New York from dictating policy over Atlanta or Boise. This isn't America is getting smarter and found a better way, this is politicians feeding you crap so they can get their way. Vote for a vote works on a smaller level.

Republicans dont have a problem with the EC now because Trump won... Same as how Dems were fine with it when Obama won in '08 and '12

Umm... You do realize that Obama won the popular votes AS WELL AS the EC in both 2008 and 2012, right? Last time the EC didn't match up with the popular vote was 2000.

Okay, so? We didnt go out burning houses and looting cities when Obama screwed all the conservatives over continually for 8 years. We waited for the next election and voted Trump; Welcome to Liberalism; Where its only fair if you get your way

Boy that's some delusion. Conservatives in congress have been cock blocking Obama for the past 8 years, to the point of holding up the national budget, something as a military member, I'm STILL feeling the ramifications of... and you have the gall to say "Obama screwed over conservatives"? How, exactly? HOW?

Want to know why you didnt go burning houses and looting cities? Because you haven't had to TWICE put up with your candidate getting the popular vote and still lose. You haven't had to TWICE put up with that miscarriage of basic democratic principles... I garaf**kingtee you that if Obama had been elected by EC but not the popular vote, republicans would've burnt this country to the f**king ground.

For those that think the electoral college isn't fair, yet think representation per state in Congress is fair.

Don't care what who says what when. Research why the framers of the Constitution actually PUT IT IN THE CONSTITUION, if you can't see the logic, congratulations, your wiser than they were. Remember, it exists because we are a Republic NOT a Democracy.

Loudly... loudly and repeatedly... both before AND after his election... when even Trump of all people thinks the electoral college is stupid, that's a sign it's time to wake the f**k up.

That was when he thought he was losing and it was all rigged. He wins and suddenly democracy prevailed. Lol

No, read what I said. Even AFTER he was elected, he affirmed he still feels the electoral college is retarded, and would prefer a direct democracy. I can provide a direct quote if you like. It's about the only agreeable thing he's ever said.

I am all for the electoral college, personally but the states need to be redone so the college votes better reflects population rather than area.

I concur. Even perhaps a percentage system rather than winner takes all would be better. For example, Wyoming gets what, 3 votes? Those 3 would be split as close as possible (basically 2 to the winner of that state, 1 to the loser). This would still use state representation, but better reflect the popular vote, and reduce the chances of another off election.
