I agree that better overall relations with Russia are not a terrible thing. However, I personally think it would be at least a couple tads better if someone like Alexander Dugin or the only offspring of Mikhail Gorbechav were to somehow become the next Russian President. Putin is widely known to have had been a member of the Soviet KGB in the 1970s and 1980s. It goes beyond just his KGB past; he also has approved of a number of political dissidents getting jailed by unlawful means. Many state and federal courts in Russia still haven't truly shook off the Soviet-era levels of corruption in them; sometimes they haven't done much else besides no longer be controlled by the communist party. True, Russia deserves a strong leader, but strong doesn't mean that one is honest as well. The elderly Gorbechav called Putin "an obstacle to progress". Russia doesn't need someone who is basically a Stalin without the mustache, hairdo, and without the title of "General Secretary".

No rush, really, inauguration won't occur until January, 2017. Since Bush-Gore contest at the end of the 20th Century, Progressives have promised/threatened to leave/flee the country if their candidate lost and they would have to live with a president not of their choosing. (I admit it is a small sample but I knew no one who even changed jobs, much less left the country.) There was a false report that the Canadian website for immigration crashed Wednesday but only time will tell IF there is actually an exodus. But don't bet on it. This is our 58th presidential election and the only mass exodus in our history was after the Revolutionary War.
