Ive lived in a country with total gun control/police state... the criminals still have guns, the people live in fear and want to come to America....

But when they do get here... like typical sheep... they go right toward the same mindset corrupt political parties that they just ran away from...

i have a short answer that may paint me in a bad light but i leave it up to the reader to judge
1 the average person (at least that i've met) does not trust the government
2 there are no laws against a law abiding citizen from owning almost any firearm they want.
3 some people just love guns. they collect them.

this isn't to start an argument or debate it's only to give you a different angle that you may or may not have thought about

I get it. If I lived there I would have more protection for sure. Any argument regarding disarming the population should begin with the government. Militarized police? Give me a Second Amendment BREAK.

off the top of my head (and i admit i may not remember as well as i should) there were at least 2 times where the us military were ordered to attack american people (whiskey rebellion and the bonus army incident) and while those happened a long time ago any talk of banning firearms will bring up those incidents.
needless to say it can be a touchy subject and any talk of taking away someone's protection is met with argument.

Right there with you buddy as a fellow canuck. We've had our share of rebellions like The Red River Rebellion, and pushing back iin the war of 1812. I have allot of friends with guns and collections, father included, but it's not like we're gonna carry an AR15 to walmart just to prove a f**kin point. I think if you feel the need to pack, you're either doin it for paranoia or you're upto no good, or an extension of your member. I just don't get it either.

How many guns are enough guns? How much Ammo is enough Ammo? Just wondering......Assault rifles for personal protection.? We don't live in war zones, right?

Again, let me know when you're an American citizen and we'll have a real conversation. Until that point I will not take your uncomfortability with personal arms and per-arm ammo count under consideration. Until then I to be clear and want to remind you that following the law means you are a law-abiding citizen. We can choose whatever arms we want to protect ourselves. That's what living in a free country means. You do not live in a free country so you are limited in how you defend yourself.

If you believe you are truly free, you are wrong and thus cannot understand true freedom as you are actually limited in scope. I can try to explain more but you have to be open minded and accept that a middle ground may exist that you are currently not in.

Let me know.

Okay you started this saying you could be free and be disarmed, yet you admittedly and by definition aren't free. You just feel free. Feeling free is great except freedom isn't always free.

Good luck.

Living in a constant state paranoia, feeling the need to be armed and ready at all times doesn't sound very free to me. I have my weapons of choice for protection at home and shop, I know which areas of the city not to visit in the dark, and some even in daylight, yet I am free to act, think, work, play, live my life as I see fit within the legal and moral boundries of society without the need to be packin' or carrying an AR15 to walmart. We are free here in Canada, including our healthcare, so you can get off your soap box and not try n tell us we are not free because we don't value guns the same as you.

We're just gonna havta agree to disagree, we clearly have differing oppinions on freedom, and preparing for civil war.
0 ups, 9y
We aren't disagreeing, you're ideologically wrong. There's a difference. But rock on "feeling free" while not in any way experiencing legitimate freedom.

Whatever you gotta tell yourself bud. Maybe you wanna google "Canada" if you can get you head out of your ass long enough to read if you can, and learn up on some Canadian geopolitics. True North Strong and Free, it's even in our anthem, and you would know that if you could see past your own arrogance.
