Trying to just get 1/4 million right now, and imgflip cuts me back to 2 posts a day. It took an extra day to hit 160K, in part, because of that.

I have about three or four users I avoid. Nowadays I spend more time making and commenting on funny memes and have been (mostly) avoiding the political ones. Which probably explains the less angst directed towards me. ;)

Submitted it this morning. I'd like to be able to avoid being political, but it's not in my baby boomer blood.

I've done political memes for years for a political site, but left in disgust by what this year offers.

I started off here doing nearly all political but some people are too passionate about their choices so I've been hiding in the funny pages. Yes, things will be better after November 8th. I hope...

I came here because I needed a way to make memes after my computer took a dive on me. I left that page because I got disgusted with the way politics went this year.

I still do some political meme, but it's closer to what caused the Smothers Brothers to get booted off the air. I did have a couple of good debates, but am just backing away from the whole schlmear.

I find myself strangely calm while arguing politics with others on here. I think it comes off as arrogant. So I get people who insist on continuing the 'debate' despite it's natural conclusion long ago. I need to be nicer. Even to the boobs.

Yes, I loved watching the Smothers Brothers. Hard to believe that the brains of the outfit was actually Tom. But he has always been full of surprises. Excellent athlete. Before he took up the yo-yo, he was a gymnist.

I completely agree with your comment below about being a writer, I also write a lot and for a living. So it's funny to me how people see something written larger than a text message, and it seems like a lot to them these days ;)

No, I didn't know you wrote.

I started doing cartoons, then when I got into stand-up I wrote my own material. I wrote and edited a humor letter, had a site called PUNography that used s meme concept but formated like a magazine captioned pic.

For the last 5 years, I've focused on socio-political articles, to go with my political memes.

Oh, I also wrote a parody of the Bible that was picked up and serialized in the Texas University literary magazine, Jack the Daw. If I mention being interviewed, that book kicked it off. There's a segment about me in Spam:A Biography that came about due to a website I had based on my book.

Before I quit, I studied journalism and creative writing in High school. The journalism training showed up in my college writing classes. My instructor was a reporter for the local paper.

So from my understanding its points based on when you earn the third submission. From what I've been able to gather, you only lose the third submission by not using all submissions each day. Inactivity may cause it as well, but there's another memer who's not on all the time and still has 3 submissions a day.

I've not had a problem with doing 3 a day: I have a problem deciding WHICH three to post. Right now, I have six on deck to go... I may have a few more.

I've got a few that were submitted, but never featured, as well. Still, I'm doing a 95% or better on my submissions.

Memes come easy to me. But then, so do comments.I get suggestive, but no worse than what passes on the censors on TV. It's not hard to keep the TOS. I was a Member Rep on Prodigy for several years, so I rarely have lapses in judgement. Okay, maybe Hitler telling a lawyer joke was over the top, but still....????

Yeah, I've got so many on deck I decided to start mapping out which days I'm going to post them on so I can stick my current strategy until I get all of my templates used at least once.

It took me a quite a while even after being on the weekly leaderboard for quite some time before I made the front page. It's still funny to me which memes of mine pick up steam and which ones don't. I sure didn't think the Walmart one would catch this many upvotes, but I thought other demotivationals might be #1 spot material. All depends on timing, word choice and other people's taste so you just never know.

As long as you laugh at your own memes and have fun making them, that's what counts. Front page is just sprinkles on top as far as I'm concerned...but I do like sprinkles ;)

You guys have it all mapped out and structured. I'm too picky and won't submit a meme if I don't think it's good enough or doesn't make me smile outright. I had three submissions for a while but didn't keep up so I'm back to two. I'm feeling more creative lately so maybe soon.

As for you having trouble coming up with memes, don't worry. I have writers block on occasion. And I am a writer. I find inspiration all over the place. You have no idea how many of my featured memes started out as a reply in the comments section on other memes. You saw the granny in the ball pit one.

For the last month about 2 out of 3 of my submitted memes start as comments to others. It works. I'm feeling more creative nowadays. My snarky mind works better when responding. I'm not feeling bad; hey, I made the top 100 (wouldn't have even known it without Coolermommy mentioning it to me).

I've done entire day's submissions based on my replies in the comments sections. Already came up with one or two that I'll submit later.

I think one reason some memes make it to the front page is because the comments are so good: especially when you get three or four, "I can top that" conversations going in a post. Those are where we all shine, which is why I posted that thank-you meme a week or two ago. I was hoping for a lot of comments. Sometimes, the best ones get ignored and the worst..

That just because at times I have so many ideas and I can't use them at once, I don't want to forget about them for those days when I'm not feeling creative. Once I get past Halloween I probably won't have any mapped out.

I have had days where I come up with three or four. Then I'll keep those in reserve. Perhaps I'm a little naive, but can you only find out if you have the third when you try to submit or is there another way?

As far as I know that's the only way.

Forgot to mention...in my opinion, if you have memes you haven't used and cant' think of anything good, just post something simple and stupid "ran out of ideas, burning meme #2/3". That way you don't run the risk of losing a daily submission for a while.

I still make political memes, I just don't do them as often. The election itself is more hilarious than I could interpret it. But hilarious or not it won't be fun anymore until the day after the election, so I'll mostly stick around the silly stuff.
