The Cop Hides Behind This Sign

When I lived in battle creek 20 years ago, the police parked a car with a mannequin dressed up as an officer for the day at a street corner.

Ha!

As a teenager a friend and I walked back home from school. We saw the police installing a radar trap and decided to turn around, take our drawing blocks (we had art that day) and wrote "Attention! Speed trap!"

Result: Some of the drivers stopped, gave us some money or just said thank you! After a while (less people went into the polices' trap) the police send a patrol ... and found my friend and me with our warning signs ... lot of trouble, but the hell of fun on that afternoon for both of us (besides the philippic of the police and our parents ^^)

I hear about things like that happening on more than one occasion, what do they have to charge you with!?

Nothing, they sent us away and confiscated our drawing blocks.

Some days later we had to go with our parents to the police station in order to get our drawing blocks back.

Even that rounds like an overstep in my opinion.

I didn't care ... besides: even today I don't know if their action at that time was legitimate. I know they can send you away (dismissal) in some cases, but if you were warning others that some hundreds meters away a radar trap was installed?
