Personally, celebrating Cesar Chavez day, is way more important! Columbus is not someone we should be celebrating for what he did, but hey if you celebrate I'm not one to judge. ;)

My point is Columbus Day should not be celebrated.

Cesar took a load of crap, & I think he did a lot of good for those with long hours of back-breaking work & low pay. I have a documented bit of Cherokee & remember the shame my great grandparents had talking about it (mid century), etc so I empathize a bit with Columbus foreshadowing the death of millions. But, hey, not that big of a deal now.

Yeah, my campus is actually surround by farmland and we had an event on campus and it was call Life In The Barrio With Don Safos where I got to met many of the activists during the time this movement was happening in California.
