I went through the same thing and ended up using a sports mouth guard like football players use. About $20 and they have to be replaced more often, but still cheaper than the $700 option.

I have used the ones from the pharmacy before, especially if I'm stressing especially bad. Work fine.

I think it what made it most frustrating for me is that I wanted to trust my medical professional, but that I felt like he was taking advantage if me:(

True story: dentist was looking at my teeth, assistant was looking at my coverage, pointing at something and showed the dentist. Next thing, he was saying I needed a mouth guard and not to worry it is covered. I declined.

It was an outrageous price because it was "medical". My scumbag dentist at the time tried to use a scare tactic about my teeth falling out. I didn't buy it (pun intended).

Yeah- I've been waiting for my teeth to fall out since I declined braces 15 years ago.
