It wasn't so much that the piliticos of the 60s were funnier or more inept, but comedy writers worked hard to make sure the jokes were funny. And pity the poor SAP that was president, as he walked around with a big target on his back.

Today's "funny" memes are anything but. Heck, even my political meme I submitted today, <a href="https://imgflip.com/i/1ay9a4"><img src="https://i.imgflip.com/1ay9a4.jpg" title="made at imgflip.com"/></a> really isn't funny, but an observation on how fear is being used to manipulate voters.
