Not really replying to Wiseasser but building on his idea, offering some common sense advice for younger users.
The meme is clear, my advice here is not about weapons. If you want a better chance of getting out of a ticket, here is some common sense that officers seem to like seeing, what has worked for me about half the time.
Sounds obvious, but if you see a cop, slow down immediately to the speed limit. Some drivers think slamming on the brakes will call attention, believe me cops like drivers who are paying attention. If you see a cop pulling out, he is most likely after you. Pull over before he/she turns on their lights. If they are not after you or like what you did, they will keep going. Pull over as far as is safe, drivers wheels on pavement, passenger wheels on the grass if safe and possible. That gives the officer safe space to approach your vehicle. Turn your engine and radio off, roll your window down, put your hands on the wheel. Say hello sir/madam. Be polite, do what they ask, answer their questions honestly. Doesn't always work, but sometimes you get just a verbal or written warning. Once a State Trooper included a recruitment pamphlet with the warning, I like to remind my wife the time the State Police pulled me over to recruit me.
