A page niner is a comment party heald on monday nights at 9pm-10pm est on page 9 of latest. It's a chance for the lesser known memers and overlooked memes to get attention. We just basically comment and upvote all the memes and commenters on page nine, points for all and have fun tryna outdo or out meme each other using our commenting prowess. You're more than welcome to join in on the fun, and if one of your memes happen to make it on there, all the better.

No problem. The idea of a page niner comes from a more nafarious reason, there was a user a few months ago that complained alot about his memes never being seen, or voted on, and always feature on page 9, so in a mocking tone, a top user decided to hold a page nine party, we only did a couple over a few months, then a month ago we had a whole week, now its mondays a 9 eastern. Good to hear your joining, it's a good way for new users to get known. So, see you there and enjoy!

The original Page 9 party wasn't about mocking anyone.

It was more of a "What if?" proposition. I saw the difference in number of comments on front page memes, and number of comments in Latest - and I thought, what if we put that many comments on memes in Latest? I was curious to see what would happen.

I chose "Page 9" because people had made a series of memes about that - it had become like a catchphrase on the site (because of the other user). I think part of the reason is that everyone can relate to submitting memes that nobody sees. The phrase "Page 9 meme" was a way to describe that experience. It seemed good to have one specific page to go to at one specific time, rather than a vague "we should put more comments in Latest" idea. It wasn't about making fun of anyone.

Well call it what you will, it's no coincidance page nine was chosen, after we'd bin hearing about the complaints from said user over the previous weeks, and the ensuing page 9 memes it spawned. That's I'm sure how most of us saw it anyways. Alot of us are mostly commentors on latest anyways, but having a page 9er was a place we could all meet n comment and yeah 3or so of those the first time ended up on front page. I know you like to be Switzerland on here n remain neutral, but c'mon socrates, your social experiment aside, most of us related that page 9er idea as a shot at the user in question.

Maybe mocking was a strong word, my appologies. But at any rate they are fun, and its a good hour of entertainment. "Maybe in jest" would have bin a better turn of phrase, I dont know, I wasnt inteding to be malicious.
As per the one I did, that was in good fun too, making fun of ourselves kinda thing.

Ok, And I was telling you what was going thru the rest of our heads. You could have just as easily picked page 10 or 13. But no, 9 was chosen, and that's how I related it for sure.

I'm just sayin', you do your little social experiments and tell no one till after there done, like your numbered memes, and if that was one, you never said so. And I don't mean to sound so bold as to speak for others, poor choice, but a few other users have made referance to page 9ers in direct corolation to said disgruntled user. We have had other discussions on the subject on other memes and comment streams.

My intention in inviting people to make comments on Page 9 memes wasn't to mock anyone. If people got that impression or thought it was about that, that's up to them, not me. I haven't seen the comments or discussions you're talking about where people say it was about mocking someone, but even if that's what they thought, they were wrong. That wasn't what it was.
