Sounds a lot like Dave. He has written several books, but also has a syndicated radio show. There are several weeks worth available online for free on his website. He starts every hour of his show saying "This is the Dave Ramsey show, where debt is dumb, cash is king, and the paid off home mortgage has taken the place of the BMW as the status symbol of choice."
Thanks to Dave, we have no credit cards, and we just paid off our house a week ago. Not through some scheme, but by living within your means and not borrowing money for stuff.
