I was so upset I agreed to it, I crumpled up the paper describing the work they did. I had to go back to ask them a question and they asked for the paperwork. I had to get the paper and uncrumple it out of the ball, try to flatten it, and showed it to them. It was awkward...

Or Oil Can Henry's imo. It looks like they check everything looking for easy, inconsequential, stuff to fix at bad prices & the workers get paid for higher $$$ volume. I find good honest mechanics who know I'm going to be a repeat customer--but good luck! There are actually a fair number out there. Every tiny imperfection or maintenance "on schedule" doesn't need to be done. Some things do, many don't.

Agreed. If you do find a fair, straight shooting, reasonably priced mechanic, built a relationship with them. Another thing, many schiester mechanics take advantage of older customers and women. They sell you things you don't need and even use scare tactics to sell you bullshit parts. My wife always has me bring her car to a garage if there's something that my brothers and myself can't fix. Luckily my dad's still around and he does the same for his car and my mom's.

Exactly. I hated it when my wife got stuck away from home & I knew she was probably getting ripped. Plus Cali prices can be worse than Oregon.
