In an attempt to see where you're coming from, I Googled "what is the purpose of memes". I only looked at the first page of results, but I read each article there, and nothing seems to be what you're trying to say here.
I was attempting to clarify my thinking on different terms and activities as I perceive them. SHARING spreads memes, but credits the originator of the meme. RESUBMITTING is sharing a meme you yourself created previously, so crediting is unnecessary.
REPOSTING is generating a meme that had previously been created by someone else, and either purposely taking credit for its creation, or implying it by not crediting its originator. THAT is what I disagree with. Like a comedian stealing another comedian's jokes. It just shouldn't be done.
Sure, it's possible to accidentally repost, to have the same idea that someone else had previously. But an effort ought to be made by the ethical memer to find out if a meme had been done previously. Many of my memes have it in their title that I investigated whether or not they had been done before, and if so, that I was unable to find it and did not intentionally repost.
Bottom line: I wouldn't want someone taking credit for my creative efforts. If that's something that doesn't bother you, that's all well and good.
